Welcome Back!

A new academic year has begun, bringing with it a host of new experiences. Whether you are beginning your investment journey or have a good understanding and want to develop this further, we have the articles to support you this year.

We have many articles lined up for you this year and don’t forget to check out any previous articles you may have missed! Sectioned by topic, they are easy to find and to refer back to.

Articles will be posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and you can provide your email address to be notified when there is a new post.

To complement these articles the Investment Society also run Investing 101 sessions every Monday from 7-8pm and one of Applications/Careers/Skills sessions 101 every Thursday from 7-8pm:

Investing 101: further your investment knowledge;

Applications 101: enhance your application for your ideal role;

Careers 101: find out about the roles open to you in finance;

Skills 101: develop the vital skills employers are looking for.

Our Sunday Socials from 3-4pm provide an opportunity to meet others, share your knowledge and learn from them. No investment knowledge is required for any of the events but they are a great opportunity to ask any questions you may be having on any concepts you’re struggling with.

You can find out more about the Investment Society and the events we run via our website uobinvestsoc.co.uk and can easily navigate from there to this blog.

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself as the new President of the University of Birmingham Investment Society and welcome the new committee, blog editors and the writers for the year to come.

Lastly, we wanted to thank all of our readers for following our blog last year; we hope it developed your understanding of the investment world and enhanced your passion for it! With so many readers around the world, our priority is to continue on this path and provide more interesting insights into investment and finance this year.

That is all for the short introduction to this academic year and look out for our next article on Wednesday about the EU banking system!
